Manny Manriquez, Innovation & Commercial Development Manager at the City of Albuquerque’s Aviation Department. In this role, Manny is the lead spokesman and subject matter expert for the Dream of Flight Renovation and Concessions Redevelopment Project at the Albuquerque International Sunport. Additionally, he oversees the Economic Development and PR/Marketing divisions in the department, guiding strategic development plans and contract negotiations, as well as internal and external communications efforts.
Manny grew up in Oakland, CA and Albuquerque, where he attended Harrison Middle School and Rio Grande High School. He earned his B.A. in political science and Asian studies at UC Berkeley and his M.A. in International Affairs at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. Manny’s academic and professional careers have focused on various policy issues—especially commerce, trade, next-generation mobility, and national security—for nearly 20 years.
After graduate school, Manny worked in Washington, D.C. for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s Office of Nonproliferation and International Security managing science and technology engagement projects in the former Soviet Union. He then worked at the Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association’s (JAMA) D.C. office for 9 years, first as Director of Government and Public Affairs, followed by six years as the office’s General Director and JAMA’s chief representative in the U.S.
Manny returned to New Mexico with his wife and daughter in fall 2021, joining the City of Albuquerque in late March 2022. He’s a long-time, old-school country, folk, rock’n’roll, and heavy metal guitar player and vocalist. He also enjoys hiking and biking, and exploring the wide-open spaces of New Mexico with his family.
Jonathan Small, Marketing and PR Manager for the City of Albuquerque Aviation Department. Jonathan oversees the marketing, public relations and customer experience programs and is a Public Information Officer (spokesperson) for the Albuquerque International Sunport and Double Eagle II Airport. During his time in this position, Jonathan has developed a variety of new initiatives and programs to enhanced these divisions of the department and leads a talented team who carry out most projects in-house.
In addition to a 40 Under Forty Award, Jonathan led his team to two prestigious international awards from Airports Council International-North America and an Albuquerque 30 award from the American Advertising Federation-New Mexico. As a result of efforts to enhance the customer experience, the Sunport landed the #4 ranking in the country on JD Power’s Customer Satisfaction Report for medium-sized airports.
Prior to his time at the Sunport, Jonathan was Marketing Director for locally-headquartered RoofCARE. He developed the company’s marketing and PR systems from the ground up and played a large role in growing the contractor into a top-tier, award-winning firm. Across 8 years, he helped grow revenue by an average of 49% year over year, roll out new branches and expand their footprint into Texas.
Jonathan graduated magna cum laude from the University of New Mexico with a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication.
